Who We Are
ABOUT US
Our school offers us all a great adventure, an exciting opportunity to begin a child’s learning journey that will develop the potential of everyone.
About Us
We are a school where everyone is encouraged to achieve their best. We set, expect and achieve high standards. We also seek to develop our children’s achievements both in and out of the classroom, for example in literacy and numeracy, and also in culture, sports and drama, aiming to provide for both the individual and the team. Our aim is to enrich the lives of our children and to develop a sense of achievement in everyone, whatever their talents. Fundamental to the learning of any child is the relationship between home and school.

Overport SRS Primary
Our History
Overport SRS Primary School is situated on 330 West Road, Overport, Durban.
The school boasts a rich cultural history having originally started by a group of dedicated members of the Hindu community. SRS stands for Sri Ramayan Sabha.
In 1959 the Natal Education Department stepped in to change its status to a State Aided School. In 1966 the Department of Indian Affairs took over the administration of the school. In 1972 the Department of Indian Affairs purchased the school from the community. In 1979 the Department demolished the existing building and erected a new building.
SRS progressed from the platoon system to a regular school. Over a period of 80 years, it has produced men and women who have proudly taken their place in society.
Overport SRS Primary School still stands proudly in the heart of Overport, servicing the community and providing a safe and secure environment conducive to an effective culture of Teaching and Learning.
Today we strive to serve all learners irrespective of colour or creed. We aim to positively shape the lives of our future in a democratic and multicultural country.
