Overport SRS Primary hosted the Foundation Phase Inter-School Elocution Contest on 28 August 2018 for the Durban West Circuit. 52 learners from schools in the Overport and Newlands area participated in this prestigious event. The caterogories included: Grade R and Grade 1 – Poetry recital. Grade 2- Reading. Grade 3-Speech.
The spectacular display of theatric talent and amazing command of the language by learners was highly commendable. This certainly proved to be the platform for training our future leaders, activists and humanitarians. All the hardwork put in by both learners and teachers from the various schools came to fruition on the stage as the race to the finish was a close and nail biting one. Learners from Overport SRS did our school proud. The following learners made it to the top three.
Luqman Vawda, Grade RA – 3rd position
Amber Khan, Grade 2A – 1st position
Shiloh Appana, Grade 3C – 3rd position
These learners will now represent the Durban West Circuit in a District Competition to be held in September. The competition will be hosted by the Department of Education. All the best to our shining stars.
